The Benefits of Mentoring

Any individual that undertakes a task or series of tasks relies on both their own internal compass and those passive external markers to maintain a course heading towards success and completion.  Their internal compass is developed over time through experiences and the external passive markers are either gathered purposefully or a matter of luck, fate, or fortune.

What mentoring adds to the formula described above is an active external compass that provides for objective evaluation and course corrections as necessary. The advantage of external objective guidance and input is that the individual being mentored gains an experience multiplier, where the mentor or mentors lend their own life experience, knowledge, and efforts in a way that no other resource can.

The Internet has brought the world’s information to the fingertips of humanity. And yet, with all of that information available – including books, courses, videos, workshops, webinars, blogs, etc – nothing has yet to replace the on-on-one life-enhancing power of the human mentor. There is just something uniquely excellent about what results from the interaction between an individual and their mentor or mentors that cannot be substituted with non-human provided information.
